“If you could choose to be a master (or mistress) of any skill in the world, which skill would you pick?” -The Daily Post
If mastering this skill would have no negative impact on my other cognitive functions and abilities, I’d choose to become a master at memorization. The ability to retain information is so incredibly useful in school yet it’s something I continuously have to work so hard at.
INFJs are naturally wired to be generalists, not specialists. Our brains are stimulated by novel unfamiliar tasks and are hesitant to engage in the rote processes required for memorization and neuronal formation to occur.
(PS: This is part of the reason why INFJs typically have very diverse interests)
Does anyone else feel like school systems are set up to select against generalists? Even the very simple idea of “selecting a major” goes against the fundamental concepts of learning that I believe in.
Great post!
Thanks! 🙂
