“Do parties and crowds fill you with energy, or send you scurrying for peace and quiet?” -The Daily Post

STOP IT. THAT IS SO WEIRD. I LITERALLY JUST WROTE A GENERAL POST ABOUT THIS TOPIC YESTERDAY AND NOW IT HAPPENS TO BE THE DAILY PROMPT – FREAKY!

Check out my post from yesterday here:

Anyway, to summarize:

I find parties draining. They do nothing for me AT ALL. I love nothing more than total peace and quiet. (I literally stated that exact thing in my post yesterday!) It turns out, I am an EXTREME INTROVERT – a word I didn’t even know until yesterday!

Introverts have certain qualities: qualities that describe me PERFECTLY.

  • I prefer having a few CLOSE friends to a bunch of ordinary friends.
  • I like listening better than talking.
  • I actually don’t enjoy hanging out with anyone except my family.
  • I like spending a lot of time alone but I’m not depressed or anything!
  • I enjoy solitary activities like reading on my nook and doing sudoku.
  • I love spending time in my room with my door closed.
  • I always watch games and activities before I join in on them.
  • I love to draw or write, just letting my imagination flow freely.
  • I sometimes start to shut down when I’m around people too much.
  • I turn SO RED and get such bad anxiety when I mess something up in public.

NOW GO LOOK UP INTROVERTS. IT’S ACTUALLY SCARY HOW WELL I FIT THE DESCRIPTION. I’M SERIOUS – DO IT. You’ll be freaked out too.

My Experience with Parties and Crowds

To summarize: I find parties draining. They do nothing for me AT ALL. I love nothing more than total peace and quiet. (I literally stated that exact thing in my post yesterday!) It turns out, I am an EXTREME INTROVERT – a word I didn’t even know until yesterday!

Understanding My Introversion

After realizing that I’m an extreme introvert, I started to recognize certain qualities that describe me PERFECTLY. Here are some of the key traits that make me who I am:

  • Close Friendships: I prefer having a few CLOSE friends to a bunch of ordinary friends. The deep connections I form with my close friends are far more fulfilling than having a wide circle of acquaintances.
  • Listening Over Talking: I like listening better than talking. I find joy in understanding others’ stories and perspectives rather than being the center of attention.
  • Family Time: I actually don’t enjoy hanging out with anyone except my family. The comfort and understanding I find with my family are unparalleled.
  • Solitude, Not Depression: I like spending a lot of time alone but I’m not depressed or anything! Solitude recharges me and helps me feel at peace.
  • Solitary Activities: I enjoy solitary activities like reading on my nook and doing sudoku. These activities allow me to relax and unwind at my own pace.
  • Personal Space: I love spending time in my room with my door closed. My room is my sanctuary, a place where I can truly be myself.
  • Observing Before Joining: I always watch games and activities before I join in on them. This helps me feel more comfortable and prepared.
  • Creative Outlets: I love to draw or write, just letting my imagination flow freely. Creative activities are a wonderful escape for me.
  • Social Shutdown: I sometimes start to shut down when I’m around people too much. My energy drains quickly in social settings, and I need alone time to recover.
  • Public Anxiety: I turn SO RED and get such bad anxiety when I mess something up in public. The fear of judgment can be overwhelming.

Embracing My Introverted Nature

NOW GO LOOK UP INTROVERTS. IT’S ACTUALLY SCARY HOW WELL I FIT THE DESCRIPTION. I’M SERIOUS – DO IT. You’ll be freaked out too.

Learning about introversion has been eye-opening for me. It’s helped me understand why I feel the way I do in social situations and why I thrive in solitude. Knowing that there’s a term that describes my preferences and behaviors is reassuring. It means that I’m not alone and that there are others out there who feel the same way.

Finding Peace in Solitude

Parties and crowds might fill some people with energy, but for me, they are incredibly draining. I find peace and happiness in quiet, solitary activities. Whether it’s curling up with a good book, solving puzzles, or spending time with my family, these are the moments that bring me true joy.

Living Authentically

Embracing my introverted nature has allowed me to live more authentically. I no longer feel pressured to conform to societal expectations of being outgoing and social. Instead, I focus on what makes me happy and fulfilled. It’s liberating to acknowledge and honor my true self.

If you ever feel out of place in loud, crowded environments or find joy in solitude, you might be an introvert too. And that’s perfectly okay. Embrace who you are and find the activities and environments that make you feel most at peace.

Celebrating the Quiet Moments

In a world that often celebrates extroversion, it’s important to remember that introversion is just as valuable. Introverts bring depth, creativity, and empathy to the table. We are the listeners, the thinkers, and the observers. By understanding and embracing our introverted nature, we can lead fulfilling and authentic lives.

So next time you’re faced with a party invitation or a bustling crowd, remember that it’s okay to seek peace and quiet instead. Your well-being and happiness are what matter most. Celebrate your introversion and find joy in the solitude that recharges your spirit.
