How to Afford Long-Term Travel

When you ask someone what they believe stops most people from going after their goals and dreams, people usually default to an excuse linked to money.

Their reasoning might be based on debts, financial responsibilities, lack of paid time off, or other monetary obligations. The tough part that a lot of people don’t want to acknowledge is that most of these reasons are really just excuses we tell ourselves in order to not have to hold ourselves accountable for planning around them.

Oh, I wish I could travel there! Maybe someday… I hope. ?

I’ve found that most of the reasons people give for why they can’t do things are nothing more than reasons why they could, but won’t. They hold beliefs connected to monetary limitations they have been conditioned to give themselves.

The good news is that it isn’t too late to turn things around.

Educating people about what is possible is a financial professional’s greatest challenge.

It begins with a financial education.

You can have everything you want and more, but most people get so wrapped up in their everyday routines that they have no idea about the best avenues available to grow their net worth. Do you know what FIRE stands for? Financially Independent. Retire Early.

Now retirement is great, but maybe you’re thinking it’s so far off, it is not even on your mind yet. It’s normal if you’re feeling that way. If that is the case, I want you focus more on the financial independence part. Realize that you having enough money set aside will allow you to do whatever you want, when you want.

Habits compound out. A little effort each day becomes a lot.

Even if retirement feels eons away, the journey you take to get there will leave you SO MUCH better off than never having embarked on it in the first place.

You know, they say you can travel the world and be your own boss while living on just $50/day. Now, maybe that’s a stretch (or maybe not!) but let’s think about it like this:

If that’s the case and that is your daily spending goal, once you accumulate $365,000, I can show you how you can theoretically travel forever, never having to stop to worry about working ever again.

Spending $50/day indefinitely.

I find it baffling how people with a passion for long-term travel don’t get excited at the prospect of growing their assets and generating massive passive income.

If you don’t know your FIN (Financial Independence Number) which is the exact amount of money you need in order to retire, we need to get you that information yesterday.

Email me.

Please include your name, state of residence (U.S. only), and mention this post! We will find a time to meet online using Zoom. You will receive this information complimentary. I don’t charge a fee to sit down with anyone or to provide you with this information.

It will require about thirty minutes to an hour. During your appointment, I won’t push to sell you on anything. I may make some recommendations if they’re deemed suitable for you based on your financial goals and objectives. Of course, there is zero obligation during our conversation. It is up to you to decide what you want to do.

We need to hold ourselves accountable starting right now.

You may think it was a bit harsh to use the term “excuse” in my introduction while describing the main reason why people don’t go out and accomplish everything they say they will.

My intention is never to make anyone feel bad. It’s human nature to rationalize what we haven’t done, especially when we know we ought to have done it sooner.

We must not be victims of our circumstances, allowing them to dictate the direction of our life. We only have one life to live so we might as well get as much out of it as possible, right? We need to become people of action; focused-finishers acting with intention. To accept anything less is, in my opinion, settling. Making excuses for ourselves. There comes a point when we need to stop accepting less from ourselves. We can get better.

It is never too late to start doing the right things financially.

I’m bringing this up in the hopes that you will recognize that you actually can make better decisions to improve your financial situation for the better. Starting now.

The truth of the matter is, anyone can live an amazing life once they have made a decision to change their situation around for the better. That includes you.

The reason I know this to be true is that in the years I have been working professionally as a financial services representative, I have observed time and time again that people generally have the money to create the life they dream of. They just don’t know how to use it.

A dream without a plan is a wish.

While “saving up” for your dream vacation might sound like a great place to start (and it certainly beats charging an entire trip you can’t afford to your credit card), for many people, those savings never seem to amount to anything. Saving cash -only when it’s convenient- is not going to work. How can you hope to visit the Maldives when you have not yet settled on an exact amount of money to save toward that trip each month?

Money that isn’t accounted for gets spent.

To that same point, a dream never that was never written down on paper is nothing more than a wish. It’s a cycle that, if not addressed soon, can result in both missed opportunities and financial ruin. To turn your own wish into a reality, you’d benefit from a professionally designed plan that can show you how to get to where you want to go.

We love to see flashy results but getting results first begins by taking action and learning what steps you need to take in order to get to where you want to go. That’s where I come in.

Have you ever heard someone say this?

I’m living paycheck to paycheck. I can’t take time off and I never have any money leftover.

If you earn money, you have the potential to get yourself into an amazing space financially. People rarely realize their full potential because most of us have not grown up in an extremely wealthy family. That’s quite alright though. It’s time for us to change that.

Perhaps you want to bet on luck. You could become the anomaly who actually wins the lottery… and that’d be great! Except, for the overwhelming majority of us, that’s simply not practical.

Most people don’t get rich accidentally. Luck might play a role in the process but usually becoming substantially wealthy comes from playing your cards right and being proactive about where your cash flows.

Wealth is the result of a person who had a plan.

Having a financial GPS will change the direction of your life forever.

This tool changed my life and it can change yours too. Without knowing how money works, I would never have been able to spend nearly two years traveling the world.

People mistakenly think they can’t do extravagant things because they lack the time or the money. The most common challenge that people actually face hindering their ability to do the things they want to do and traveling to the places they want to go is usually either:

  • a lack of a financial education
  • poor money management
  • omitting budgeting or monetary strategy
  • and never having encountered a financial services representative they know/like/trust enough to work with.

Once we have your financial life back in order, you gain back the time and freedom to invest your resources on the things that matter the most to you.

With a plan in hand, I assure you, you can have everything you want and more.

If you haven’t figured this out already, I’m Rocky. It’s so nice to meet you.

The entire reason that I began working within the world of financial solutions in 2017 had to do with a personal decision to change my life and the lives of the people I know.

We all know someone who can’t stop working because they never saved enough. We also have probably all seen GoFundMe pages because someone passed away unexpectedly and the family hadn’t prepared for those expenses. Let’s take care of those things.

Avoid that stress before it happens in the first place. It doesn’t have to cost a lot either!

I was not born into money. My parents did well for themselves but I knew that if I wanted to become financially independent, able to retire early, and able to provide for loved ones by leaving behind a legacy, I would need to do something different.

The decision to get my finances in order was a simple one. A friend from college introduced me to this business during my senior year and that was how I was able to take the first steps toward getting my financial life in order.

Now, I’m looking to teach others what I know. Having once worked in schools, I love that my company takes an educational approach to finance. We teach people about how money works. We make sure our clientele know why they are being introduced to different products. It’s not enough to own something for the sake of having it. You should always feel good about the products you have.

Our company does what is right 100% of the time.

Let’s meet on Zoom and have a conversation.

If you have decided you are ready to get on track financially, send me an e-mail. Since you found me through my website, you can send your email to [email protected] and mention that you would like to discuss your financial situation.

Of course, there is zero obligation after our consultation. The entire purpose is to see in which ways I can improve your situation by either saving you money, showing you how to make more money, or adding value in some other way to your current financial position.

You need not worry.

Whether you’re in a great place financially or not, I can’t stress this enough: please do not worry. Every once in awhile, I encounter someone who feels a sense of dread or embarrassment over their financial position.

Mistakes happen. It’s okay. If you are drowning in student loans, sinking into credit card debt, or realizing you never have any cash left over after paying your bills at the end of the month, it’s not something you need to be ashamed to talk about.

I’ve opened my entire life up to the world through this blog. Understandably, people sometimes get nervous about opening up, but I’m one person and I’m a professional. I want you to feel comfortable. Discussing money should be normalized.

Talking to a financial services professional about money is no different than discussing ailments and illnesses with a doctor. The first step is seeking recommendations so we can help you improve and get better with time. That’s precisely what I want to help you do.

Finally, you don’t have to start off extremely wealthy to make money. Why not put away $25 a month for your future? What is stopping you?

Do you realize this decision can change your life?

I love working remotely. Working remotely has made it possible to reach more people than ever before. When I meet with my clients, I use Zoom. Clients find this enjoyable because we are able to schedule times to meet that are both convenient and easy for people.

(I am hiring, send me your resume if interested in doing what I do.)

My scheduling fills up quickly so the best way to get an appointment is to ask. Get your spot with me as early as possible.

If you can do just that, I promise you, I will find the time to meet with you.

The only work required on your end is to simply reach out. I take care of the rest. Let me do my job, but I can’t do that unless you do yours.

Send me that first outreach and we’ll be well on our way to getting you on the path to financial freedom.

Can I do it myself?

Doing anything yourself is risky because the result is entirely dependent on how much knowledge you possess and how confident you are in your ability to self-manage.

For instance, I could do my own oil changes, but I’m not a car person so I much prefer to have someone with car expertise do that for me. That way, I can relax while knowing that my vehicle is being taken care of. With financial services, the same philosophy holds true.

Another scenario: could you list and sell your own home yourself? I suppose. You’d need to do a ton of research and paperwork first… or you could decide to use a real estate agent and have the whole process made easy.

Sometimes the best decision is to have a professional do things right from the start to avoid making mistakes down the line.

I follow up with all of my clients. I keep people on track toward their goals. I make sure people own the right products and understand how each one works.

Could you manage it yourself? I don’t know. It’s hard for me to say. These products require a license to distribute so usually it is easier to work with professionals who are licensed. All I have left to say is that I know the people I work with are extremely happy with the solutions I have provided them with.

Think about this.

I want you to ask yourself this question: what kind of relationship do you want to have with your financial services agent?

Generally speaking, people prefer to work with someone they know, like, and trust. I’m a human, just like you. Except I just so happen to also have professional licenses under my belt and industry-specific training in my areas of expertise. All of that is simply to say, I bring value to the people I meet with. I offer products that require a license to sell. My hope is that you will recognize that value and seek to establish a professional relationship with me.

Today can be the first day of the rest of your life.

When I traveled, I never had to worry about what would happen to my family if something happened to me, knock on wood. I had everything I needed: life insurance, travel insurance, health insurance.

Even while living internationally, I was able to pay down my student loans, save money each month towards retirement, and pay for my entire trip in cash. I never once needed to borrow or ask anyone for money.

Those things were important to me. What is important to you?

Let’s work together and I’ll help you achieve your financial goals.
