As you may know, this is my\u00a0last semester of college. <\/strong>Three\u00a0months away from graduation. Surreal, insanity, and excitement are but a few of the words I could use to describe what I’m feeling right now. Um, didn’t I just graduate from high school<\/a>?<\/p>\n

To qualify for graduation\u00a0from Rutgers University, students must first complete a total of 120 credits<\/strong> worth of coursework. In the process of accumulating those credits,\u00a0students are expected to complete\u00a0a major, a mandatory minor (unless your\u00a0major is considered “credit intensive,” in which case you’d be exempt), as well as\u00a0a\u00a0number of\u00a0general education requirements referred to\u00a0as “SAS\u00a0core curriculum” all\u00a0students\u00a0study\u00a0to obtain a well-rounded education.<\/p>\n

With my psychology major now complete, my last semester of college is being devoted to finishing my entrepreneurship minor and final\u00a0two core requirements. In other words, I only need 4 more classes (12 credits) to finish everything<\/strong>! As a Resident Assistant working on campus, 12 credits is the minimum amount of credits I’d be\u00a0allowed to enroll in. So in the end, everything worked out perfectly despite changing the focus of my studies every single year of college.<\/p>\n

My Senior Year\u00a0Spring\u00a0Semester Course\u00a0Schedule<\/strong><\/h1>\n

World Cultural Regions<\/h2>\n

\"Rutgers<\/p>\n

As my blog\u00a0has a large section devoted to world travel, I thought it would be fitting to fulfill my Historical Analysis (HST) by taking\u00a0World Cultural Regions\u00a0<\/strong>at Rutgers. What better way to plan and prepare for my dream of one day traveling the world, right? Region by region, we discuss\u00a0big topics like food, education, employment, and language. Our professor, Dr. Bender, is a fantastic\u00a0faculty member\u00a0from our\u00a0geography department who is unbelievably\u00a0friendly and passionate about her course\u00a0and <\/strong>her\u00a0<\/strong>students. I love going to her class each week.<\/p>\n

Students have the option of giving an extra credit cultural presentation on a region of our choice. After the first day of class, I volunteered to present\u00a0Food from Spain<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in class the following week. Jorge helped me put it all together and it was a total blast revisiting my memories from Spain. The presentation went well!<\/p>\n

Theater Appreciation<\/h2>\n

\"Rutgers<\/p>\n

Honestly, I never wanted to take Theater Appreciation<\/strong> at Rutgers. I had this totally\u00a0arrogant and unfair notion\u00a0that people only took this\u00a0class because it was an “easy A.” Ha… Well, as it turns out, Theater Appreciation actually fulfills the\u00a0Human Experience (AHo) requirement at Rutgers which\u00a0I never fulfilled<\/strong>! Go figure.<\/p>\n

In hindsight, this worked out really well for me. Theater Appreciation requires you to see 7 or 8 plays outside of class which has the potential to be\u00a0so much fun! There is a bit of a time commitment involved\u00a0but if there was ever a time to do it, isn’t it the second semester of your senior year!? Oh, and considering I am trying to improve\u00a0my stage presence for future\u00a0presentations, what a great way to study people acting\/speaking up\u00a0in front of large audiences!<\/p>\n

Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship<\/h2>\n

\"Rutgers<\/p>\n

Creativity, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship<\/strong> (ICE) is an Entrepreneurship course taught\u00a0within\u00a0Rutgers Business School. I selected it\u00a0as my elective out of plain curiosity from its name. The course\u00a0talks a bit\u00a0about\u00a0mindset, areas of\u00a0psychology (a nice tie-in with my major), and tactics to be an overall better person. I would definitely say it\u00a0has been helping me clarify my plans for the future while simultaneously building up the courage to\u00a0become an entrepreneur.<\/p>\n

My main\u00a0complaint would be that, despite being an “open environment,” the large 100-person lecture hall utilizes\u00a0a rapid-fire question and answer format which is not\u00a0exactly conducive to garnering\u00a0input from\u00a0introverts who tend to think\u00a0in detail before speaking.\u00a0The saying, “Listen with the intent to understand, not the intent to reply,” does not pertain to\u00a0this class. Participation is a significant portion of your grade so after the professor asks any question, you can bet 3 to 4 hands will immediately shoot up and he immediately calls on\u00a0them<\/strong>. My mind begins crafting a response pulling\u00a0in outside information\u00a0and stories but by the time I feel prepared to share my thoughts, we’ve already\u00a0moved onto the next topic. I find it very frustrating.<\/p>\n

Managing Growing Ventures<\/h2>\n

\"Managing<\/p>\n

Last but not least, I’m taking Managing Growing Ventures<\/strong>. Not going to lie: I am mostly taking this class because I have to. It is the last requirement to complete\u00a0my minor. However, there are two positives that have\u00a0already occurred\u00a0just\u00a0from taking this class. First off,\u00a0I get to directly work with\u00a0a psychotherapist<\/strong>\u00a0to help her improve her business. I am going to find that extremely interesting since\u00a0I was pursuing that same career path at one time. Secondly, my professor contacted\u00a0Mad Science to ask if\u00a0I can throw her two children\u00a0a Polymer Party<\/strong>! How fun! Hahaha.<\/p>\n
