The month of November is widely recognized in the blog-o-sphere as National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). For the last couple of years, I have contemplated participating in NaNoWriMo but opted not to because I had my hands tied with other projects – like the Daily Post’s Challenges!
In essence, I suppose you could say I was “unofficially” participating in NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) at the time because I was posting to my blog everyday throughout the entire month of November. Of course, my long-term readers may remember I was actually publishing posts daily for the entire year! It was my goal at the time and I successfully completed it!
This year, I’m weighing the pros and cons of participating in NaNoWriMo. I know this is something I want to do. I am more concerned about how realistic it is. To complete the project by the end of the month, I will have to write about 2,000 words each night. But if I manage it, I’ll have a book written by the end of this month.
As hesitant and unprepared as I feel right now, I still think I am going to give it a try. My rationale: even if I don’t finish a novel in one month, at least this new challenge will get me thinking. Planning a story, generating new ideas, getting words on paper.
We’ll see how this goes! Please just know, November will be an incredibly busy month for me.
Sometimes life does get in the way but maintaining a focus and a target is acceptable in the mad world we live in. Well done.
Absolutely! 🙂 Thanks!
I’ll be doing NaNoWriMo this year as well for the first time! I think that as long as you have a good, daily writing habit you’ll be okay. Good luck on finishing your novel! 🙂
Hahaha I’ve been off to a rough start. November is such a busy month! I wonder if I should wait until December or like June haha. How have you been doing so far?
I’ve done it three times. It’s a kick
Nice, that’s quite impressive! 🙂
