Taking a Step Back from The Daily Post’s Daily Prompts

Since I first started responding to The Daily Post‘s Daily Prompts back in January of 2013, I have responded to a total of 800 prompts.

(Note: In 2021, I have decided to remove some of these replies due to them being rather short and potentially detrimental to my blog moving forward. I’ve never been the type of blogger to remove old content so only a select few will be taken down.)

In January of 2014, I made it my New Year’s Resolution to respond to all 365 Daily Prompts throughout the year. As challenging as it was, I successfully completed what I set out to do without missing a single post.

In 2015, I said I would try to do it again but what I didn’t know at the time is that The Daily Post would discontinue posting original prompts every day. As a result, I’ve found myself responding to a significant number of prompts for the second time.

Some of the repeated prompts were difficult and time-consuming to respond to once, let alone twice! Taking that into consideration in addition to the number of things I have to do this semester, I think it’s best if I take a step back from the Daily Post’s Daily Prompts for a little while.

NOTE: This doesn’t mean I won’t be blogging anymore. Instead, I’m re-allocating my time for the benefit of myself and my readers. By spending less time on repeated posts, I can devote more of my time to the spontaneous posts I like to write. Random, fun, and bizarre posts about things I come up with on my own.

Please also keep in mind that this decision is based on my roles and responsibilities right now. The semester ends in May and I’ll likely have more time after that. I may even continue responding to prompts before then. Let’s take the Daily Prompts day-by-day and see what happens! If they’re new, I might even still respond! 🙂

I’ve thought carefully about this decision and I think it will improve the overall quality of my posts. Hope you all understand and can appreciate why I am choosing to do this (for the time being*)! Thanks!
