“Tell us the origin story of your best friend. How did you become friends? What is it that keeps your friendship rockin’ after all these years?” -The Daily Post
It was the first day of freshman year of high school. We were going around the room introducing ourselves. I was listening to one girl introduce herself and I remember thinking to myself, “Wow, she seems so fun! I want to be her friend.”
Slowly but surely, I started sitting one or two seats closer to where she sat. Somehow or another, I eventually made it right next her seat. I didn’t want to annoy anyone by “taking their seats” but it never caused any trouble since I made it happen slowly.
I basically spent my whole day with her today! We went to an event where we got free Taiwanese treats and ice cream. We like free ice cream.
We met in line waiting to enter our university bookstore at the beginning of our first year of undergraduate study. We discovered we had several friends in common and soon became close. We’ve been like that ever since. What keeps us together is a shared sense of humor and a sense of equality and justice.
