Daily Prompt: Style Icon

“Describe your personal style, however you’d like to interpret that — your clothing style, your communication style, your hair style, your eating style, anything.” -The Daily Post

My style is a bit unusual and hard to explain. According to my friends, I swing between being a 5 year old and a 50-year-old on a daily basis.

It’s weird because the more I think about it, the more I realize how it’s true!

Growing up, I was always told how mature I was for my age but even now, at 18 years old, I still feel like the same “kid” I was 10+ years ago! It’s an unusual idea to explain. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking about maturity and immaturity necessarily. Perhaps this is more about personality and playfulness. I can still perfectly connect with the kid I remember being years ago. Despite growing up, I don’t feel like I’ve lost touch with that part of myself.

It’s funny though. My everyday style is quite a bit more professional than how other college kids my age dress. To put that into perspective, you’ll never see me wearing sweatpants in public. Ever. I like blazers, fancy hats, fun dress shoes, etc.

But really, I’m such a kid. I’ll willingly admit that I ordered the complete DVD box sex of Digimon Season 4 less than an hour ago. (I’m on a mission to buy every TV series I watched as a kid.)

I love that stuff. I haven’t had the chance to do this in many years but I could easily whip out my old Gameboy Advanced or dusty Pokemon cards and happily play with them once again.

In addition to that, I’m easily amused by simple things. I’d be so excited if I found out someone was taking me to Six Flags and I’d be even happier once I saw a Dippin Dots stand there. But oddly enough, I’m equally excited about attending national conferences and board meetings. It’s all good!

Having a heart-to-heart with my friend. Just kidding, I swear I don’t actually talk to stuffed animals.

    1. I really like this prompt because it helps break down the barrier between bloggers and their readers. Describe something about yourself in greater detail. It can be anything from how you act to how you dress. It’s very open. Hope this helps! 🙂
