Daily Prompt: History of Language

“Write a piece of fiction describing the incident that gave rise to the phrase, ‘third time’s the charm.'” -The Daily Post

Something about that phrase reminds me of a guy trying to win over a girl he has a crush on. I can almost picture him making multiple attempts to impress her but failing the first two times. Then, after already messing up twice, finally has success on his third try. As a result, he says, “third time’s the charm.” because he managed to charm and win over the girl he wanted so badly.
